Registered Professional Reporter (RPR)
What it takes to pass the RPR Exam
To become a RPR, you must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to produce a high-quality verbatim record. The Written Knowledge Test is a 115-question, multiple-choice test that focuses on three areas:
- Technology (22%)
- Reporting Practices (62%)
- Professional Practices (16%)
You must pass with a scaled score of 70 or better.
To earn your RPR, you will also have to pass three sections of a skills test that evaluates you in three areas:
- Literary at 180 words per minute
- Jury Charge at 200 words per minute
- Testimony/Q&A at 225 words per minute
After dictation, you have 75 minutes to transcribe your notes from each leg. You must have 95% accuracy on each leg to pass.
Registered Merit Reporter (RMR)
What it takes to pass the RMR Exam
To earn your RMR, you have to pass three sections of a skills test that evaluates you in three areas:
- Literary at 200 words per minute
- Jury charge at 240 words per minute
- Testimony/Q&A at 260 words per minute
After dictation, you have 75 minutes to transcribe your notes from each leg. You must have 95% accuracy on each leg to pass.
Registered Diplomate Reporter (RDR)
What it takes to pass the RDR Exam
The RDR Exam consists of a 115-question, multiple choice Written Knowledge Test that focuses on three areas:
- Technology (17%)
- Reporting practices (53%)
- Professional practices (30%)
You must receive a scaled score of 70 or better to pass the exam.
Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR)
What it takes to pass the CRR Exam
The CRR Exam consists of three steps:
- Step 1 – Setting up and operating your equipment
- Step 2 – Accurately writing realtime for five minutes at 96% accuracy from professionally recorded two-voice Q&A material at the speed of 200 words per minute.
- Step 3 – Converting your file to an ASCII text file. Grading is on the final submitted text file.
Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS)
What it takes to pass the CLVS Exam
- Step 1 – Attend Video in the Legal Environment Seminar
- Step 2 – Pass the Written Knowledge Test
- Step 3 – Pass the hands-on Production Examination
